The SWOT-5M Business Plan Format
April 29, 2008Last post I showed in detail the business plan format you need to consider if you are applying for funding or a loan. It is a standard (if very detailed) format for a business plan.
On another site today I saw another way of thinking about business plans that might be quite helpful, not only when you are writing a business plan for funding purposes, but even if you are just writing one for internal use. I am calling it the “SWOT-5M” business planning model.
The business plan is structured to the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat) in terms of the 5 Ms. 1. Money, 2. Manpower, 3. Machinery 4. Market 5. Materials.
You could, in fact, use the SWOT-5M approach, and still write the information into a standard business plan format; however for internal use, a plan might be more usable if you simply use a bullet point style analysing each of the 5M’s by strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths.
I like it. Of all the suggestions I have seen for an internal business plan format, this one looks most interesting to me.

Thank you its very usefull
